Foundation for Teaching and Research in Osteopathy.

 

 

The Foundation for Teaching and Research in Osteopathy (FTRO) is a not for profit organization. Created in 1982 by Philippe Druelle, D.O., it is aimed at promoting Traditional Osteopathy and help needy people, supported by the College.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

FTRO’s objectives

 

  • Treat yearly and free of charge fifty (50) severely handicapped children aged 0 to 5.
  • In conjunction with the College, provide students and graduates with a specialized training aimed at evaluating and treating newborns and young children with neural, sensitive and motor anomalies.  
  • Promote Traditional Osteopathy and research.
  • Organize humanitarian missions in Peru, Pakistan and India in conjunction with the College.
  • Manage and organize the «children part» of the Outpatient Clinic.
  • Organize Children Days in Toronto and Québec City.
  • Work in conjunction with «Osteopathy without Borders» to organize missions aimed at those with lesser means.

 

 

FTRO’s achievements

 

FTRO’s members have attended numerous symposiums in Canada, the United States and

Europe.

 

FTRO has invited many speakers of international stature such as Dr. Viola M. Fryman. D.O. for her methods for treating handicapped children; Evelyne Atlani, D.O. for treatment of young children born prematurely and afflicted by neural and motor deficiencies; Denyse Dufresne, D.O. for treatment young children with visceral problems; Sylvie Lessard, D.O. for lectures on plagiocephaly and Philippe druelle, D.O. for courses on the spiral of births as well as clinical courses.

 

Fundraising    

 

Between 1986 and 1992, Philippe Druelle initiated and organized the «Don des Étoiles», a fundraising event that also served as the Gala Evening marking the 25th anniversary of Place des Arts in Montréal. Each year, the event gathered 25 star dancers from the Opéra de Paris, the Bolshoï, les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal and the American Ballet Theater. Karen Kain, Frank Augustin, Evelyne Hart, Andreis Liepa, Farouk Rouzimatov, Patrick Dupond, Sylvie Guillem, Monique Loudière, Emmanuel Legris, Ciryl Atanasov, Jean-Marie Didière participated under the patronage of Her Excellency Madame Jeanne Sauvé, then Canada’s Governor General. Were also present madame Claire Kirkland-Casgrain and Mrs Tania Plaw, President of the McGill Chamber Orchestra.

The Foundation also presented three shows with Angèle Dubeau and La Piéta Chamber Orchestra whose premiere concert took place in McGill University’s Redpath Hall.

 

 

Foundation’s projects

 

  • FTRO is currently organizing sessions for pregnant women experiencing pains and dysfunctions offering them preventive treatments meant to facilitate birth from high-risks pregnancies.
  • FTRO is also in search of partners to help mistreated children.
