General Profile

Letter from Philippe Druelle, D.O., President of the College:

Welcome on our website. Discover our College by browsing with us.

Founded in 1981, the ``Collège d’Études Ostéopathiques`` was the first in Québec and Canada to offer a course in Osteopathy. Since then we have built an excellent reputation through our curriculum which is up to the highest academic and international standards.

We are very proud of the results achieved in those last three decades. We have trained students who have become excellent Osteopaths. This was possible because we could count on our experienced and devoted staff of teachers.

Our challenge and goal have been to promote scientific rigor, transmission of the palpation skills and the importance of the contact with the patient. We owe this success to our teachers who are devoted clinical osteopathic practitioners as well as faculty members. Life within the College is dynamic and based upon teachers’ availability for exchanges and discussions.

The osteopathic career is thrilling. We offer our students the pleasure associated with learning and gaining experience for lifelong progress through contacts with patients. Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, founder of Traditional Osteopathy, compared our work to that of an `` engineer of the organism`` who knows in detail the mechanisms of physiology and can evaluate and treat the causes of pains and dysfunctions. This requires being able to treat each patient globally. It is a great challenge and we are proud to offer a complete training comprising all the tools required to successfully complete the curriculum and become safe and efficient professionals.

We have invested a lot of energy in creating an environment favoring studies. The College offers a green campus neighboring Jarry Park. Our classrooms are large and equipped with the best high tech equipments. The outpatient clinic dispenses more than ten thousand treatments per year and provides the general public with a unique opportunity to benefit from excellent care at an affordable cost.

Our students have access to a library and bookstore as well as video archives, a tutoring program and an efficient support in their research works. Our staff has developed tools to integrate and guide them throughout their curriculum.

At the College, students, teachers and the administrative staff work together to ceaselessly improve the quality of the courses and college life. We are very grateful to our students who actively participate in our projects through the Students Association.

The College benefits from an excellent worldwide reputation providing its students with valuable opportunities for contacts and exchanges. We have created colleges in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montréal, Québec, Halifax and in Europe.

We have given post-graduate courses in twelve countries and participated in the elaboration of training programs in Europe. We have also given specialized courses for training professors in Russia and Japan. Alumni are at work in 32 countries where they can advertize the quality of our work. Such an international network allows our students and graduates to benefit from exchanges and other opportunities.

The ``Collège d’Études Ostéopathiques de Montréal`` has another endeavour. We are at the heart of the action since 1986 working towards the recognition of the curriculum and of the profession of Osteopath in Québec and Canada. In that respect, we have made representations to the ``Office des professions``, to Québec’s National Assembly and the Ministry of Education.

Finally, students benefit from the ``College spirit`` based on mutual aid, on the Students Association’s participation and on meetings pertaining to continuing education as well as on symposiums presenting lecturers and teachers among the best in the world.

We thank you for your interest in Traditional Osteopathy and in our college.

We hope you will enjoy visiting our website and, if such is the case, we wish you the best of success in your curriculum and your career.
