The Irvin M. Korr Award presented to Dr. Michael M. Patterson Ph.D.
The Irvin M. Korr Award was initiated by the AOA Bureau of Research. It is intended to provide recognition to exemplary commitment of basic science research in an osteopathic institution. The award was created in honor of Irvin M. Korr, Ph.D., a noted researcher and philosopher in the area of neurophysiology in the osteopathic profession.

The 2002 Irvin M. Korr Award is presented to Michael M. Patterson, Ph.D,. Dr. Patterson has over 140 published chapters, articles and abstracts, and lectures nationally and internationally in both osteopathic and neuroscience topics, including chronic pain mechanisms, osteopathic research design and other topics.
His is one of the two Associate Editors of the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, serves on several editorial boards and is an Associate Editor of the Foundations for Osteopathic Medicine textbook. He has trained 7 Ph.D. students and numerous Masters students. He is also the recipient of the AOA Louisa Burns Memorial Lectureship (1980) and the Gutensohn/Denslow Award (1992) for outstanding contributions in research and scholarly activity to the osteopathic profession.
