Symposium 2012
AN EXCEPTIONAL SYMPOSIUM
From the first to the sixth of June, 300 people attended the 29th edition of the International Symposium of Traditional Osteopathy of Montreal, organised by the College d’Études Ostéopathiques. It was a great turnout filled with friendship and the sharing of magnificent knowledge. Friends, new and old, graduates, new osteopaths, students from across the globe met up for this occasion. This symposium was certainly one of the best we have had on both the level of the quality of the material presented and the friendship displayed.
Our first day at Concordia University.
It is with pleasure that the osteopathic community found itself on the first of June in the amphitheatre of the Molson School of Buiness of Concordia University.
This day was very appreciated for all the conferences followed each other in theme and completed each other.

Professor Rainer Reinmuller PhD ( university of Graz)
During these conferences, we have been very touched by the interest that Dr. Gernet, surgeon and professor of university of Munich expressed towards osteopaths, whom he expressed he found necessary in pre- and post-operation care for patients operated for craniosynostosis and facial plastic surgery. It is our wish that someday, we may get a similar response in our own country. To achieve this, we must become better known.
We also greatly appreciated the wonderful conference on the spiritual brain by Dr. Reuben Bell, D.O. following the teachings of Swedenborg. This echoes the conference that the professor Beauregard, Ph.D. did two years ago. Part of our brain resonates with the our spiritual consciousness but does not birth it. Michael Patterson, Ph.D., with his conference on chronic pain has demonstrated the importance of the presence of he who treats patients afflicted by painful phenomenon.
The Professor Rainer Rienmuller, Ph.D., from Graz University, Austria, presented a high level and very useful conference on cardiac coherence influencing other systemic coherences. Again, much consideration was shown to our profession since the Ethics Committee of the University of Graz hospital has agreed to conduct an experiment with us on people freshly operated for implantation of a mitral valve. A pre-experimentation process was successfully completed by Philippe Druelle D.O. which tended to show that our action is significantly favorable for a quick return to normality in those post-operation patients.
Philippe Druelle D.O. himself has presented a very useful conference on cerebral concussions by giving many solutions to track and treat patients afflicted by such a thing, He has encountered much success with Kevin Longpré in the National Hockey League. Philippe Druelle will do a 3 day post-graduate class on this subject in Montreal, Toronto, Halifax and Vancouver. Anne-Julie Moran has made a great conference on neurosciences and osteopathy. She and Genevieve Forget will give a post-graduate class on this subject from the 18 to the 21 of October 2012. Anne Canareli has made a passionate and much appreciated conference on the mechanisms that produce vitality in the human body.
Karen Steel, D.O., Professor at the West Virginia University of Osteopathic medicine has presented a conference and led a workshop on the therapeutic methods of the Still family. Bernard Darraillans, filled with energy, closed this first day by offering us a moment of reflection by talking about Still’s concept of the internal doctor and the way of dialoguing with him to heal patients. A good presentation build with heart and translated by Sylvie Erb, D.O.
This symposium gave us the opportunity to meet with numeral friends from many European countries, but also from USA, Cuba, Switzerland and France.
The atmosphere was joyous and we greatly enjoyed ourselves in the college’s new location.

We have gotten very good comments on the workshops and all the people who participated have been very satisfied by the seminars. Some of the lecturers have come to symposiums multiple times in the past and each time have developed their art and their way of transmitting it on multiple subjects. We are the only college in the world that organises this type of event and with a theme and guests that complete each other. We do it to preserve and promote an osteopathy that is efficient with authentic practitioners. Our goal has been achieved: progress, meet each other again, and learn to better treat our patients. We thank you all.
WE INVITE YOU TO OUR 30th SYMPOSIUM, JUNE 1 TO JUNE 6, 2013.
We are already preparing a great event for Osteopathy with the participation of numerous renowned osteopaths such as Jean-Pierre Barral, Marc Bozetto and Bruno Ducoux along with numerous professionals of international calibre whom know of Osteopathy and are preparing conferences on subjects in relation to the reality of the human body such as Neuroplasticity on the Psychological and Cognitive behaviours, the Effects of human interaction on cardiac regulation and the functional coherence of all the systems, or even Quantum Dialogue, etc.
We will also celebrate our 1000th graduated D.O. from the College of Osteopathic Studies.
This is the result of 32 years of hard work and to the credit of a corps of dedicated and very competent teachers. This is the occasion to thank our teachers whom have taken to heart the goal of transmitting as best as possible their knowledge. Our objective has always been the same: Transmit the tradition, perform research and teach our clinical methodology. Today, we defend the quality of our osteopaths as being safe and most of all efficient. We have reinvested our means on the quality of the service offered to our students:
32000 square feet of permanent installations with an administration whom responds to the students’ needs, an external clinic with well-formed and dedicated supervisors, a nice vision to not only promotes complete osteopaths but also talented ones. We are the only college in Quebec that promotes this level of university-grade classes and offer such as level of support to our students.
MANY THANKS TO OUR TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF.
