The study program leading to the Diploma in Osteopathy (QC) comprises two levels.
FIRST LEVEL:
The first level has two undergraduate programs: the Full-time curriculum for students holding a College (DEC) or an equivalent degree and the Curriculum in Osteopathy for Health Professionals.
Full-time curriculum for students holding a College (DEC) or an equivalent degree.
Objectives of the first level: Study health sciences and Osteopathy; acquire clinical competencies, know-how and palpation skills required for each field of Osteopathy; know clinical methodology permitting efficient response to patients’ needs and ensuring safety for the public.
The program is four and a half years long. Courses are held between September and April. The final year is from September to December only.
Courses are scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the first three years. For the fourth year, courses are held Monday to Thursday. In the forth and fifth year, you will also have two supervised clinical days with patients per week.
There are mid-term and final examinations which may be written, oral clinical and practical.
Individual work normally expected from students is 1.5 hour per hour of formal courses. We strongly recommend team work that allows for better learning and integration of knowledge and competencies.

Curriculum in Osteopathy for Health Professionals.
Objectives of the first level: Study Osteopathy; acquire clinical competencies, know-how and palpation skills required for each field of Osteopathy; know clinical methodology permitting efficient response to patients’ needs and ensuring safety for the public.
The program is five years in duration, each year (from September to April) comprising 6 or 7 «five days seminars» over the week-ends.
Courses are scheduled from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Examinations are written, oral, clinical and practical.

SECOND LEVEL: GRADUATE PROGRAM LEADING TO THE DIPLOMA IN OSTEOPATHY (Qc)
All students from both undergraduate programs who have passed their examinations enter in a "common" part time graduate program.
Objective of this program… learning with experts.
Through this program, students will develop their ability to synthesize, analyze and self-criticize their ability to find ways of resolving the problems of complex clinical cases.
With this knowledge, osteopaths will be able to work within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Throughout this level, students will meet experts who will transmit their know-how and methods adapted to such complexity.
You will be able to select the most convenient program to acquire experience and expertise whether in research or clinical work.
LEVEL TWO PROVIDES TWO DIFFERENT OPTIONS:
1- Program with dissertation:
This program requires the use of knowledge acquired in both undergraduate studies and post-graduate training with experts, in order to write a fundamental, clinical or qualitative research paper.
· 8 days of coaching. (Methodology courses) (60 hrs)
· Preparation and presentation of a 20 pages research protocol.
· Preparation and presentation of a 100 to 150 pages dissertation.
· Five days of contacts with experts, postgraduate courses and symposium. (Optional)
· Specialized courses. (Optional)(Geriatrics, sports lesions, pediatrics, chronic and progressive diseases, pain, gynecology and obstetrics)
2- Program with clinical internship and essay.
This program, based upon clinical application of acquired knowledge and of methods taught by experts will permit proper treatment of complex cases of patients with pain or with chronic or evolving conditions.
- Internship 1- College’s outpatient clinic: 40 hrs. Establishing a plan for osteopathic treatment to ease the patients’ pain and application of this treatment. Ratio: 1 supervisor, 3 students, 1 room
- Internship 2- College’s outpatient clinic: 40 hrs. Maturity allowing to treat cases with varying levels of complexity. Ratio: 1 supervisor, 6 students, 2 rooms
- Internship 3- College’s outpatient clinic: 40 hrs. Acquiring expertise to treat patients with complex cases. Ratio: 1 supervisor, 6 students, 3 rooms
- Internship 4- 280 hrs. gained through one or more of the following:
- One of the symposium training (workshops) required
- Equivalent clinical experience approved by the College; one of the humanitarian missions (Peru or Pakistan)
- Postgraduate courses offered by the CEO, CCO, DOK or SICO.
- Clinical experience in an accreditated clinic with a D.O. from the CEO.
· Writing an essay project and the final essay.
Based on a case study (250 hours) including:
- A comprehensive review of the subject
- Presentation and analysis of the question
- Discussion
- Proposal for treatment
· Specialized courses. (88 hrs) Compulsory: Geriatrics, sports lesions, pediatrics, chronic and progressive diseases, pain, gynecology and obstetrics.
Upon completion of the second cycle, the student will be awarded the Quebec diploma of Osteopathy. D.O. (Qc)
